    I decorate for the four seasons and intersperse them with some holiday decor. I decorate for July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have a two story house with covered porches that run all the way across the front and I decorate the porches too. My hubby inherited the house from his grandfather and it was in sad repair. I've been redesigning and remodeling it since we moved in and when people visit and want a tour, I sound the same as you, "I did this, I did that" etc. I don't think it sounds like we're bragging, We're just proud of our homes and are happy to introduce it to others.

    I don't do too much for the seasons. The seasons are Spring/Summer, Fall, Christmas, Winter-after-Christmas. I change out our bedding, all thrifted or made by me. Pillow shams, placemats and napkins for the dinner table made by me. I like wreaths on the front door, so that gets changed out for each of the 'seasons'. For Christmas, I decorate only with the stuff I can take out in one day, and more importantly, PUT AWAY in one day! I've been cutting 'way, 'way back on stuff out on all the surfaces. I hate dusting, why do that to myself. Been doing the "Danish Death Cleaning" for the last few months, and will continue to do so for the next few months. All the little knick-knacks will be on the chopping block, as well as Christmas stuff I never put out anymore. Your home is lovely. Please don't apologize for it.

      I think you're asking about the cardboard tack strip. It has multiple purposes...but here it holds the welt tight against the chair so it gap open. And it keeps the skirt nice and straight and tight against the welt. you'd have to use a million staples otherwise. You'll see what I mean and the beauty of tack strip immediately when you do it. 😉

    Obviously doing the pleats will affect the width of the drape. What was the total scene with of each box pleat that you made. I am considering buying some grommet drapes made for a patio door that start out at 100 inches. What do you think my finished width will be? Love your idea but don't know if it will work for my situation.

      @@MimzyandCompany Then if there were seven grommets per "panel" let's say, then I'd be losing about 56 in inches!?

    • @MimzyandCompany
      @MimzyandCompany 4 дня назад

      @@flb708 no, if your pleats were 4”…meaning folded 2” deep…which I think is generous . I think my pleats were more like 1.5” deep to enclose the grommet hole. So if you had 7 grommets you lose 28”. I think my drapery panel after I pleated ended up being about 22” wide or so. So if your panel is 54” and have 7 grommets you’ll end up with a 26” wide panel. This year, I reupholstered my 25 year-old sofa in a similar performance fabric (on one side of the cushions, leather on the other--plus cat scratcher protection in leather on the corners and armrests). I'm still working out the best way to spot clean. I keep getting 'water marks'.
